Witch Hazel Trail | Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards

Sunset, SC

On a stunning 24-acre site on Lake Keowee, the 6,800 SF house is nestled into the side of a slender, steep peninsula with flanking coves. LS3P/Neal Prince used the site topography to create an unassuming cottage-like front facade with eyebrow windows, and a dramatic two-story rear facade. The main part of the house is organized around two large living areas, one on each floor, and a screened porch links the main house to the 1,483 SF guest house/garage.

Large windows in the main living areas provide breathtaking views to the lake and are shaded by a bracket supported arbor and copper awning. A lakeside terrace extends the home’s living spaces and transitions the house into the surrounding grounds. The client’s admiration for Carolina mountain architecture is reflected in the home’s design.
