Porters Neck Elementary School

Wilmington, NC

This 81,200 SF elementary school was adapted from an existing prototype design, and was tailored to respond to both site and best practices for modern learning environments. The new design added flexible space to accommodate a wider variety of functions, incorporated updated educational technologies, and modified building systems to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.

The building features single-story administration and assembly spaces and a two-story classroom wing. The school is sized for 595 students, with infrastructure designed for expansion to 690 students. The load bearing masonry and metal stud wall framing help to reduce building costs. The brick veneer and metal panel exterior lend a contemporary aesthetic.
