First Baptist Church Family Life Center

Taylors, SC

This new family life center was designed to serve three primary functions for the church:  education, recreation, and fellowship. Education is served through the addition of adult classrooms as well as a dedicated youth center that includes a large group space with fantastic views and breakout spaces for smaller groups.

Recreation takes place in the gymnasium that features six retractable basketball goals, as well as space for two volleyball courts. An elevated walking track encircles the gym while also providing circulation to second floor classrooms, youth spaces, and a loft area for games.

For fellowship, the facility includes a full-service kitchen adjoining the open gym space that seats more than 600 at tables. There is also space for 120 to meet in the fireplace room for seminars, recitals, and other medium-sized events. The lobby and outdoor terrace with fire pit provide ample space for gathering before and after services and activities.

The building is comprised of concrete tilt wall construction, which serves as a durable and economical structure, while strategically placed glass provides connection with the gorgeous natural setting of the church campus.
