Ebenezer Montessori & School of Inquiry Addition

Rock Hill, SC

The Montessori design features an open, collaborative concept to enhance the hands on learning techniques and the ability for engagement between age groups. The classrooms are flexible to allow for a variety of ways to set up areas for math, language, geography, culture, science & sensorial. Practical life skills have access to a learning kitchen area resembling a “small house” shared by all the age groups. The other “small house” series as a “nest” for nap time for the younger children.

The overall design of the school and colors evoke a sense of comfort, security and a general feeling of a child’s home environment. Additionally, low walls between the main hallway and classrooms serve as cubbies on the outside and shelves inside the center. Wayfinding is enhanced by cut-out shapes with corresponding acoustical ceiling panels.
