Charles began his service to the firm in 1978, interrupted by a two-year graduate program at the University of Pennsylvania. In returning to the firm, he pursued winning commissions for the firm’s well-established education sector. His work includes substantial experience with new construction as well as numerous renovations, additions, advance planning projects, and feasibility studies.
Charles has served as Principal-in-Charge and Architect of Record on a variety of project types including facilities for education, civic, parks and recreation, residential (single family and multi-family), mixed-use, healthcare, and aviation projects throughout the Southeast. Charles is currently an active member of Wilmington Historic Foundation.
Ever a servant of the profession, his efforts continue to bring greater inclusiveness, diversity, and community engagement in architecture. Charles was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Wilmington Real Estate Summit for his substantial contributions.
