Revitalizing the Waterfront

Overlooking the Cape Fear River in historic downtown Wilmington, this LEED Silver-certified convention center transforms a former industrial brownfield site into a vibrant civic destination that anchors the northern end of the Riverwalk and supports the city’s ongoing waterfront revitalization. The 100,000 SF facility and accompanying 600-space parking structure create a dynamic venue for tourism, business, and community engagement, while establishing a new landmark that reconnects the city to its riverfront setting.

Design Details

Drawing inspiration from the region’s maritime heritage, the architecture and interiors reinterpret nautical themes through a timeless, contemporary lens. A 30,000-square-foot exhibit hall, expansive ballroom, flexible meeting spaces, outdoor exhibition areas, and an event lawn accommodate a wide range of programs while allowing the facility to evolve alongside community needs. Floor-to-ceiling views of the river and marina animate the light-filled pre-function spaces, creating memorable gathering environments that celebrate Wilmington’s waterfront and position the city as a premier destination for conventions, events, and cultural experiences.
