Tristan BassingthwaighteAIA, LEED AP BD+C, LFA
Architect
Tristan Bassingthwaighte hold a doctorate of architecture and is part of the Sustainability Design Collaborative working in the Asheville office. Prior to joining LS3P, he spent nine years focused on healthcare, custom residential, and civil infrastructural work across Hawaii and the western US. Upon joining LS3P, he has worked on educational, commercial, and healthcare projects across the NC region. Tristan splits his time between architectural projects and sustainability, working to further the environmental goals of LS3P as a company while integrating green design in projects at the office level. He also serves as a mentor within the Co-Labs team, helping to foster greater inclusion of considered design at all levels of a project.
In addition to his professional practice, Tristan specializes in the sociological and psychological design of habitats in the extreme environments of Earth and outer space, to include the sustainable systems within. While in graduate school, Tristan spent a year living in a habitat on Mauna Loa as part of the HI-SEAS IV Mars simulation experiment, experiencing and designing for the stressors of a manned mission on Mars.
