Located on a 3.12-acre site in Uptown Charlotte, Second Ward Medical Magnet High School is thoughtfully woven into a site rich with cultural and educational history. Positioned on the former grounds of Second Ward High School, the design acknowledges the legacy of the Brooklyn community while creating a future-focused environment for learning. The historic Second Ward High School Gym remains as a preserved landmark and visible connection to the site’s past, serving as an important anchor within the new campus. The facility brings together classrooms, community partner laboratories, performance spaces, student amenities, and collaborative learning environments in a compact, multi-story design that responds to its urban setting.
Design Details
Purpose-built to support the next generation of healthcare professionals, the school redefines learning through partnerships with local hospitals, colleges, and universities. These relationships extend education beyond the classroom, allowing students to engage in hands-on experiences and specialized medical training while pursuing their studies.
