Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility

Located at the crossroads of Interstates 95 and 40, the Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility anchors Johnston Community College’s new Four Oaks campus and represents a highly visible investment in regional workforce development. Developed through a partnership between Johnston Community College and the I‑95/I‑40 Crossroads of America Economic Development Alliance, the facility addresses growing demand for skilled manufacturing talent through flexible, industry-ready learning environments designed to adapt to evolving technologies.

The 67,000-square-foot building brings together programs in Welding, Applied Engineering, Machining, and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing within a clear, efficient layout that encourages collaboration across disciplines. Transparent labs, interior balconies, and shared collaboration zones keep instruction and hands-on learning visible, strengthening connections among students, faculty, and industry partners while increasing public awareness of advanced manufacturing careers. Daylight, outdoor access, and visual links to the surrounding landscape support focus, well-being, and informal interaction throughout the day. Along the I‑95 corridor, expressive massing and illuminated glazing establish the building as a civic landmark—signaling the region’s commitment to education, innovation, and economic resilience.
