Davis-Edwards-Harris Educational Complex

This new educational complex for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System brings Mercer Middle School, Groves High School, and a Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) program together on a single campus. Originally designed as a K-12 facility that included an elementary school, the building’s flexible design allowed it to adapt seamlessly to a 6th-12th grade program as enrollment shifted. The campus includes a 397,668-square-foot academic building serving grades 6 through 12, a 52,000-square-foot CTAE building, and 38,066 square feet of athletics facilities. Designed to support over 2,400 students, the campus functions as both an active learning environment and a community landmark for Garden City.

The site layout responds to physical constraints while clearly separating grade levels. A dedicated CTAE building houses specialized spaces and heavy equipment to support aircraft maintenance and logistics pathways, aligning instruction with regional workforce needs.

Inspired by Savannah’s historic built environment, the design blends contextual architectural character with modern educational programs. A comprehensive safety and circulation strategy organizes movement across the 43-acre campus, prioritizing accessibility and operational efficiency.
