Expanding Capacity and Enhancing the Customer Experience
The Greenville–Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) Parking Garage C project delivers a 1,500-space, five-level parking facility adjacent to the terminal. Designed as a dual-purpose structure, Garage C increases both public parking and rental car capacity while aligning with GSP’s established campus identity and customer experience standards.
The facility includes 750 public parking spaces and 750 ready-return rental car spaces within a consolidated rental car facility. Two lower levels are dedicated to rental car ready return, supported by a full-service Quick Turnaround Area (QTA) for efficient vehicle drop-off, fueling, washing, and servicing. A centralized rental car transaction lobby anchors the experience, complemented by reserved spaces for premium rental car pick-ups that simplify arrivals and departures. The two upper levels provide premium public parking with convenient access to the terminal.
To further support ease of use, the garage incorporates Park Assist technology, allowing users to quickly locate available spaces, reduce circulation time, and improve overall wayfinding.
Design Details
A central focus of the project was integrating GSP’s established architectural and interior design standards throughout the new facility. The design team worked closely with airport leadership to carry these standards into Garage C, reinforcing a consistent identity across the campus. Particular attention was given to the Rental Car Customer Service Building (CSB), where finishes and detailing align with the quality and character of the terminal and concourse environments.
Key materials and patterns from the main terminal were thoughtfully extended into the garage. Terrazzo and tile patterns used in the terminal are replicated in the CSB flooring, creating visual continuity between facilities. Toilet room finishes within the Customer Service Building reflect those used in the terminal and concourse, reinforcing a cohesive passenger experience. Where new materials were introduced, selections complement adjacent finishes while supporting the performance demands of the garage environment.
By extending these design standards into Garage C, the project strengthens GSP’s campus identity and supports a unified environment that remains consistent over time while balancing operational efficiency and customer convenience.
