This 66,000 SF medical office building in Lillington, NC is part of the Central Harnett Hospital campus and provides Harnett County with its first and only dedicated cancer center providing radiation therapy.
The Cancer Center is located on the first floor and provides Radiation Oncology which includes 3 exam rooms, a CT and linear accelerator, and medical oncology which includes 5 exam rooms and 16 bay infusion suite. USP 800 compounding is provided on-site and connects directly to the infusion suite. The first floor also includes a retail pharmacy.
The second floor clinics include orthopedics with x-ray, ENT and allergy, urology surgery, neurology and cardiology. Clinics are pod based with semi-open centralized staff support areas to ensure easy wayfinding and provide a sense that patients can both feel seen, whilst staff maintain a level of privacy for focused work. This model also allows flexibility between specialties since there is no defined boundary between clinics and they are served off a single corridor running across the length of the building.
The building was designed to complement the architecture of the existing hospital and set the tone for the future of this campus delivering advanced, high quality care. Internally, both the first and second floors patient check-in and waiting has been designed with ease of wayfinding in mind and to provide large amounts of natural light and views out of the building. This connection between inside and outside is further celebrated with the introduction of a healing garden directly outside the infusion suite that offers views to nature as well as enabling access to the outdoors for respite.
