The renovation addressed critical life-safety upgrades and modernization of building systems while reimagining the building around the needs of students and faculty. A strategic addition introduced a new elevator, circulation core, egress routes, and mechanical spaces, freeing valuable interior square footage within the existing building for expanded studios and student-focused makerspaces. The project also strengthens the university’s campus experience by serving as the western anchor of the Arts Walk pedestrian corridor, reinforcing connections between Wey Hall and the broader campus master plan.
