Guilford County Schools Professional & Community Ed Center Wins Award

We’re thrilled to extend a huge congratulations to everyone who worked on Guilford County Schools Professional and Community Ed Center (PCEC) for winning the Structural Engineers Association of North Carolina Design Excellence Award for New Construction & Associated Builders and Contractors Merit Award!

The Guilford County School District Professional & Community Education Center is an ambitious project aimed at bridging the gap for underserved students and parents by providing access to educational and career opportunities that foster personal growth and economic equity. This innovative facility offers state-of-the-art spaces for teachers and students to acquire new skills, enhance communication, and expand expertise.

In addition to serving the educational community, the center will be a valuable resource for the broader community, offering access to Wi-Fi and the use of its facilities and grounds. The design-build project features a new two-story building with a gross area of 87,000 square feet.

The facility includes various program and administrative spaces dedicated to educational and professional learning. It also provides parking for both staff and visitors, adhering to code minimum requirements based on the planned occupancy of the building. The project is anticipated to achieve at least Gold LEED certification, in compliance with the GCS Facilities Policy, ensuring a sustainable and environmentally friendly design.
