The Wilmington office celebrated the opening of the New Hanover County STAR Center, a treatment center offering medical detox, crisis stabilization and transitional housing under one roof. The project was a partnership between New Hanover County and two other local entities who provide treatment and transitional housing.

The project involved the renovation of a former senior housing facility that had been abandoned following damage from Hurricane Florence in 2018. With exceptional vision and dedication, the LS3P team saw beyond the damage and neglect, breathing new life into the building and transforming it into a calming, therapeutic, and restorative space. County Commissioners and staff who toured the facility prior to renovation were stunned at the transformation.

A speaker at the ribbon cutting ceremony said of the project ““We celebrate what this space represents for this community: safety, support, dignity and a pathway forward for people who deserve every opportunity to heal and rebuild their lives.”
