COJ Marine Fire Station 39 Groundbreaking
On November 14 at 9:00 a.m., the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department broke ground on new Fire Station 39 located on the north bank of the St. Johns River in downtown Jacksonville marking a significant investment in the downtown public safety infrastructure.
The ceremony brought together city leaders, fire department officials, and community partners to celebrate the beginning of construction on the facility that will house marine operations and a Rescue District Chief and will meet the growing demands of the entertainment district as development continues around EverBank Stadium and along the riverbank. The facility will also serve as a multi-function facility for special events teams that activate during major downtown gatherings, such as the annual Florida-Georgia college football game, the Jazz Festival, and other celebrations.
To date, the project has earned two AIA design awards from both the Wilmington, NC and Jacksonville, FL chapters and is on track to earn a “Silver” certificate from the Florida Green Building Coalition’s Green Commercial Building Standard. Construction is scheduled to be complete by November 2026.
