Johannes Kettler Urban Designer III Johannes Kettler, Assoc. AIA, NOMA, joined LS3P’s Urban Environments practice with an international background in architecture and urban design, practicing at award-winning studios in Europe, Japan and the US. Johannes has a great passion for design as a driver of positive change in our built environment. As a designer, he has long been interested in developing a comprehensive understanding of how communities and cities develop to contribute to more sustainable and equitable urban environments; as a design thinker, Johannes applies solution-focused creativity, empathy and detail-oriented implementation to a broad variety of tasks and scales. In his career so far, Johannes has contributed to and led a wide range of private and public projects bridging the fields of architecture, planning, urban development, and design. Johannes has done extensive research on affordable housing economics and design, the topologies of public space, post-industrial urban transformations, design technology, participatory urban development, and sustainable cities. He has won national and international design awards, and his work has been displayed at events such as the Venice Biennale of Architecture; two world Expos; and exhibitions in Germany, Spain, Japan, and the US. Johannes holds a Master of Architecture from Bauhaus-University Weimar and a Master of City and Regional Planning from Cornell.
