Urban Connectivity
Designed as a net-zero operationally ready neighborhood, the master plan extends the character and energy of the earlier Courier Square phases while establishing a distinct destination centered on community gathering and connectivity. Four mixed-use buildings are organized around a generous public square, creating an active civic heart that links directly to the Lowcountry Lowline. Ground-floor retail and dining venues animate the streetscape, fostering a walkable urban experience that encourages social interaction and engagement throughout the day.
Design Details
The district balances density and livability through a cohesive architectural framework that prioritizes people over vehicles. By locating parking within a site-wide underground garage, the development preserves the pedestrian experience above grade and maximizes opportunities for public space, landscaping, and street activation. The result is a large-scale urban environment where residential, commercial, and community uses are woven together to create a dynamic and resilient extension of Charleston’s Upper Peninsula.
