The new Ellen Woodside Elementary School, which replaces a 1950’s facility, is located on approximately 25 acres of land in southern Greenville County adjacent to the existing school. This school serves a population of 700 K-5 students with a planned expansion to house 1,000 students. Sloped and radiused green metal roofs, pattern brick veneer, and green glass serve as the exterior facade of the structure. A high bay entrance lobby creates an open vertical element with natural light and exposed steel trusses that connects the media center and the cafeteria. A dining area, stage, media room, science room, art room, computer lab, and multi-purpose room, as well as outside playing fields and basketball courts, enhance this modern school facility.
