The 300-student Ansonville Elementary School replaces a 70-year old school that was formerly on the site. Administration and media flank the front entry, which provides a clear view through to the landscaped courtyard. The classrooms are zoned into two wings for younger and older students. Each classroom wing includes a “teaching patio” at the rear to provide an outdoor area for storytelling, crafts, and games. The noisier playroom and cafeteria are situated at the ends of the main corridor and the interior features a soothing color palette, with distinctive lighting, graphics and floor patterns to help identify and zone the various functions of the building.
