Unprecedented collaboration between the community, developer, owner and the Design Team turned around public opinion and political leanings to invigorate interest in renovating and expanding an aging mall. Through a series of public meetings, work shops and presentations, the Design Team won over the public and gained needed support with inventive re-theming. “Classical Chic” represented the combination of historical elements combined with the kinetic energy and entertainment qualities of shopping. The approval process was complicated and involved but, in the end, the asset gained by the community was well worth the effort.
