Built into the hillside between two wings of an 87-year-old resort hotel, this spa
continues the Arts and Crafts style of the original hotel. The three-story spa is located in the heart of the hotel complex below the main viewing terrace that looks over the spa to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since the spa is almost totally underground, it is visually unobtrusive from the famous Sunset Terrace above. With underground links between the two hotel wings, the spa’s architectural vocabulary is almost totally of stone inside and out, providing a strong sense of timelessness and permanence.

Centered along the central axis of the original hotel, the spa experience begins with the cascade terrace and culminates at the base of the hill in an outdoor pool terrace. The interior pools of the spa receive natural light through a vast skylight above, creating a place for reflection and meditation that provides the guest with an unforgettable experience of peace, well-being, and serenity.
