AXA BERRYHILL FARMS PLANTATION RESTORATION
South Boston, VA
This restoration project centers around the historic Greek Revival mansion, Berry Hill, erected in 1842-44 for James Coles Bruce in South Boston, Virginia. Designated a National Historic Landmark, this estate was purchased by The AXA Group, a French-based insurance and financial services company, for use as a training center to complement their facilities in the Bordeaux region of France. To bring the mansion back to its original glory, a museum-quality restoration including discreet, new wings for classrooms, dining room and offices was involved. Complementing the facility are new architecturally compatible buildings built to accommodate 90 guestrooms and a health spa.
