NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY CENTENNIAL CAMPUS STUDENT HOUSING

NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY CENTENNIAL CAMPUS STUDENT HOUSING

In 2009, LS3P ASSOCIATES LTD. in association with SASAKI ASSOCIATES was
selected to design the new Centennial Campus Student Housing and Dining on
NC State University’s Centennial Campus. The project will provide about 1,200
undergraduate beds in apartment style housing in approximately 500,000 SF. This
project will complete the eastern edge of, and define the middle section of the Oval.
A 20,000 SF dining facility, the Oval Marketplace, will be located in the building
that faces The Oval and will include an exterior plaza with outdoor seating.

The Centennial Campus Student Housing will be for both undergraduate students
(sophomores, juniors and seniors) as well as some graduate housing. The
residential space will be accommodated in six buildings with the building on The
Oval containing dining, administrative offices, front desk, mailroom, multipurpose
space and graduate student lofts. The character of the housing/dining building on
The Oval will be unique and will be the architectural bridge between the Oval
academic buildings and the other residential buildings. The buildings are mostly
five levels and respond to the significant topography by “stepping down” the site,
with floor levels and building height. The facility will achieve a minimum of LEED
silver certification.
