The design goals of this Doctor-owned and run facility were to create not only a functional and professional environment for her patients, but also one that was comfortable and less clinical than the typical OBGYN office. Clearstory windows in all exam rooms were oriented to make full use of the daylight, while affording the patient maximum visual privacy. Floors in the exam rooms of Brazilian Cherry encased in vinyl provide the aesthetic desires, with the sanitation and durability requirements for a healthcare environment.
In the Waiting/Lobby area, custom wood panels were designed to divide the waiting area from the clinical areas. All pull hardware was excluded on the full height invisible doors leading into the clinical areas as a security precaution to prevent persons from entering these areas unattended. The Doctor/Owner commented that her patient load has more than doubled in one year’s time, and feels it is directly attributable to the layout and ambiance of her new facility.
