Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center - Brunswick Facility

The Lower Cape Fear Hospice obtained a Certificate of Need to serve the growing needs of Brunswick County and then asked LS3P to assist with site selection, programming, preliminary design and cost analysis. The challenge was to provide patients a comfortable and dignified place for end of life care without feeling institutional.

The Owner requested the facility to have a “coastal farmhouse” feel. In response, LS3P developed a design that incorporated simple and elegant materials and recalled vernacular rural forms.

The proposed 13,400 SF facility will have 7 bedrooms, a family kitchen and dining room, small family gathering spaces, and medical and administrative support spaces. Each patient room will have a private outdoor patio with a covered porch allowing outdoor use in various weather conditions. The plan has been designed to allow for future expansion of 4 additional bedrooms and a chapel.

Other features include a children’s garden, bamboo garden and an event lawn.
