First Baptist Church Spartanburg Pre-School
Spartanburg, SC
The pre-school wing at First Baptist Church Spartanburg was part of the first phase of their overall master plan. The 12,600-square-foot addition utilizes brick patterning and high contrasting facades to blend with the original buildings. The facility includes a “rotunda” multipurpose room, a music area, a computer room, a kitchen, a resource area, nine large pre-school classrooms, and a new outdoor play yard.
Creative entrance facades, bright yellow “pick up sticks” (angled lights), bold carpet patterns, and innovative use of materials enrich the learning spaces and provide a multi-sensory environment. Clerestory windows in the main corridor allow natural light to spill through interior clerestory windows and into each classroom, ensuring that each student can learn in an optimal environment.
