Combat Arms Training & Marksmanship Training (CATM) Facility

Combat Arms Training & Marksmanship Training (CATM) Facility

Maxwell Air Force Base, AL

The new design/build CATM includes a 6,900-square-foot Training Building and an 84-point, Known Distance (KD) Firing Range. The training building includes a large divided classroom for weapons training and education. Included in the building are vaults for storing weapons and ammunition. Instructor support spaces and a weapons cleaning area are also provided.

The fully-contained gun range features two bays with 42 firing points each, sound reducing material and the ability to withstand higher caliber ammunition. Each bay has a control tower with a built-in public address system to give loud and clear commands to the shooters. The training facility has two large classrooms to accommodate 42 students in each classroom. Safety equipment includes eye-wash stations located on the range and in the cleaning area and maintenance room.

The architecture of the building is designed to blend with the mission-style architecture of the base and is highlighted by tan brick and red shingles.
