LS3P ASSOCIATES LTD. designed the 912-space, seven-level parking structure that was configured to integrate with residential/mixed use development at the Washington Street and McBee Streets ends of the site. The deck utilizes a one-way, double helix configuration for the internal circulation and is constructed in precast concrete on deep foundations. The structure is designed for two stories of vertical expansion.
The design reinforces the red-brick character of the historic center of Greenville and provides a 2-story street arcade. A covered pedestrian walkway and four glass-backed stair towers provide multiple-level access to adjacent buildings. The brille-soleils add texture and shadow the exterior. Use of exterior aluminum screens allows natural ventilation while limiting visibility of automobiles from the sidewalk, per local ordinance.
