Mooresville Library Renovation and Expansion

Mooresville Library Renovation and Expansion

Mooresville, NC

The Mooresville Public Library consists of a 30,000 SF addition to an existing 1939, 4,100 SF historic library and was detailed and massed to be compatible with the existing library. Existing spaces were converted to an airy front room to house the Genealogy collection, a 68-seat Community Room available to the public for after hour functions, and a new catering kitchen to service those patrons. The original fireplace, wall sconces and mantle piece were relocated to the new area.

The main gallery features a long arched ceiling and carved columns to match the columns in the original library. The architectural concepts of the Main Hall on the main mevel were replicated in a scaled down version for the Children’s Main Hall on the lower level. These rooms were whimsically designed with carpet in vibrant colors and patterns. The children’s and juvenile collections were given a cheerful and colorful wash complete with plenty of day lighting.
