Charlotte/Douglas International Airport Concourses D & E Expansion
In association with The Wilson Group, LS3P ASSOCIATES LTD. provided aviation design for the Concourse D expansion and new Concourse E to expand gate capacity at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Concourse D provides four gates for long-haul international flights and seven gates for domestic or international travel, as well as expansion of the Federal Inspection Services (FIS) including INS, Agriculture and Customs to accommodate 1,200 passengers per hour.
The new Concourse E provides 26 new commuter gates for a mix of turbo prop and regional jets, with planned expansion of an additional eleven gates. The concourse design allows a 120-foot clear internal span with no physical obstructions to hinder passenger flow or concession layouts. Concourse E has undergone 5 expansion phases.
