Warrior-in-Transition Barracks, Fort Stewart
The new design/build 144,574-square-foot WT Barracks Complex provides accommodations for Soldiers recuperating from injuries sustained in combat. The two, four-story barracks consist of 60 two-bedroom, two-bath and 60 two-bedroom, one-bath apartment units. The WIT Complex includes a Battalion Headquarters, Soldier Family Assistance Center, Healing Gardens with Wheelchair Obstacle Course and a walled trellis.
The WIT Barracks match the style, proportion, and materials of existing housing facilities and are symmetrical and designed in the character and theme of the installation. As the “Southern Living Station of Choice”, the architectural style of the installation is reminiscent of the Southern Colonial Revival style. White columns and gabled roof elements create porches that mark the entries into the buildings.
This project is LEED Silver, includes Comprehensive Interior Design (CID) and site infrastructure developments to include site grading, utilities, roads and parking.
