Savannah Christian Church – East Campus
LS3P is engaged to provide architectural services for 3 of this rapidly growing church’s 5 campuses. Savannah Christian Church’s East Campus, located on the east side of Savannah, GA, is a satellite campus which includes an existing worship building, an education / gymnasium building, and a portable structure currently being utilized as youth education space. The growing church is feeling the pinch as their existing facilities do not meet the need of the growing youth and children programs. This facility need has been considered the most critical need for the campus.
The design team began with an intensive “canvas session” to engage the church, allow for critical conversations about long-term vision, determine programmatic functions, identify project goals, and discuss budgetary parameters. The resulting information formed the foundation for an effective future campus master plan for all church programs. The master plan utilizes existing structures and a phased construction approach.
Phase One of the proposed master plan includes the conversion the existing education / gymnasium building into 29,500 SF of much-needed space for a highly efficient and exciting children’s and youth program area. Renovations will create 4 distinct zones corresponding with the 4 program areas defined by the church. Each zone will include a pre-function area, large group worship space, and small group break out areas. The flexible design allows diverse uses throughout the week, at times when other ministry areas are in need of space.
The facility will have a dedicated entrance lobby which will provide a highly visible face to this most critical need area. The new entry will feature a prominent wall design element in keeping with other campus designs that will accentuate East Campus’s aesthetic while also relating the church’s concept that they are one church with multiple campuses.
Phase One is scheduled to begin construction Fall 2014

SF: 29,500 SF renovation (Phase 1)
