Grace and ease with a maritime feel
This renovation for a private club takes advantage of one of the most beautiful sites in historic Charleston, SC. Originally built as a Shrine Temple in the early 1960’s, the space was re-imagined as a high-end private club with a ballroom, informal dining room, lounge, and formal dining room. The interior aesthetic reflects the rich traditional heritage of the city with traditional moldings and other elegant finishes. New large exterior windows grace the interior spaces with incomparable views to the harbor.
Design inspiration drew from two rich sources: the southern traditional heritage, and the maritime heritage. A traditional composition, moldings, materials, and patterns reflect the southern traditional design. Maritime motifs and patterns woven into the details, with wood moldings resembling rope and patterns in the custom carpet alluding to maritime themes.
