Peter John Cannon Parking Garage

This new 524-car, 6-level parking garage for the City of Columbia is located downtown on the northwest corner of Sumter Street and Taylor Street. This facility was designed to blend in with the existing downtown context and appear more like an occupied office building than a typical parking deck. The base of the building is comprised of stone, groundface, block, precast concrete and brick detailing with brick above. The precast concrete structure is designed with a ramp system on the center bay to conceal the diagonal lines from the exterior.

Leasable tenant space is available along Taylor Street to create activity and interest at the pedestrian level. There is also a pedestrian access directly to Main Street from the rear of the garage through a secure, well lighted and planted alleyway between two historic buildings.

This new investment by the City supports existing and new businesses, as well as residential customers along Main Street and provides support for more economic growth in the City Center area.
