Interim Replacement Hospital, Joplin, MO
LS3P was charged with the task to provide a design solution for an interim replacement hospital after the 2011 catastrophic EF5 tornado that devastated portions of Jasper and Newton Counties in Joplin, Missouri. The design for a 146,000-squarefoot, 120-patient bed (expandable to 180-beds) fully contiguous building complex of factory fabricated modular units constructed and finished to permanent construction standards to be design-build in 90 days for Phase I and 70 days later for final completion. The design team was able to submit full design and price proposal schedule to the Corps of Engineers and the Sisters of Mercy within only 17 days.
