Greenville Technical College Center for Manufacturing Innovation
“The center is probably the best technical manufacturing education facility in the country.” -Peter Zierhut, VP of Motorsports Marketing, Haas Automation
This new leading-edge center for advanced manufacturing technologies will support education, research, and entrepreneurship while training a highly skilled workforce. The 106,000 SF facility is the first building on a new International Style campus, and is designed to establish a distinctive architectural character and serve as a visual icon of modern manufacturing.
The training center will offer technologies such as CNC machines, EDM, multiple-axis lathes, welding, rapid prototype equipment for 3-D Modeling, stereo lithography, selective laser sintering, & deposition modeling. Greenville Tech and Clemson University are partnering to create collaborative programs involving local industry partners.
In addition to instructional spaces, the facility offers manufacturers a place to build their own prototypes as well as incubator space for start-ups. Other program areas include offices, conference and breakout rooms in a variety of sizes, an open learning commons to engage visitors and students. High-bay manufacturing spaces accommodate equipment such as mills, grinders, and lathes, with adjacent low-bay space for materials storage. Specialized labs include mechatronics, manufacturing pilot line/integration, innovation labs, and research space. A showroom provides a space to highlight student work and emerging technologies. The facility is designed to achieve a minimum of 2 Green Globes certification.
