The Center for Emerging Technologies provides 60,000 sq ft of new space on the CU-ICAR campus. The three story building includes a 25,000 sq ft high-bay research lab area on the ground floor along with two upper levels for flexible office space. In order to maximize flexibility for multi-tenant offices that will adapt to new technologies, the office areas feature raised accessible flooring to accommodate HVAC, power systems and communications infrastructure. The exterior of the building fits into the high-tech context of the CU-ICAR development, using a combination of metal wall panels, high-efficiency glass, exposed concrete and solar screening. Utilizing a number of sustainable design initiatives, the project received a LEED Gold Certification.
