PAUL D. BONEY, FAIA

As Senior Vice President, Board Member, and Principal, Paul is a third generation architect with diverse experience in higher education, state, civic, K-12, and private projects. Paul’s extensive professional and community involvement over the years has included leadership roles in the local, state, and national AIA and other organizations. Paul is a current member on the National AIA Ethics Council, and a prior Chair of the AIA National Committee on Architecture for Education and was the Chairman of the AIA National Convention. He has served as president of AIA Wilmington and AIA North Carolina, Vice President of the National AIA, and member of the National AIA Board of Directors.

Paul has chaired the State Building Commission, and is the current chair of its Innovations Committee. He is currently serving as secretary of the North Carolina Board of Architecture, member of an NC Legislative Study Commission, and member of the Class XXI of Leadership NC. Paul has also chaired the UNC Wilmington Foundation as well as the New Hanover County Planning Commission.

A 1977 graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Design in Architecture from North Carolina State University, Paul has been honored with the North Carolina Governor’s Order of the Long Leaf Pine award, the AIA North Carolina Gold Medal, the AIA North Carolina Deitrick Award, and the AIA National Richard Upjohn Fellowship.
