We are delighted to announce that the Vernon Malone College and Career Academy has won a Sir Walter Raleigh Award for Historic Preservation/Rehabilitation! Located in a former Coca-Cola bottling plant, this adaptive reuse project reclaimed an underutilized industrial site on Wilmington Street near downtown Raleigh to create a dynamic, engaging new school. The project team, which was led by Wake County Facilities Design and Construction, also included Wake County Public Schools and Wake Technical Community College. Contractor Clancy & Theys was also instrumental to the project’s success.
