Langford Elementary School Receives LEED Silver Certification

Richland School District Two’s Langford Elementary School recently achieved LEED Silver Certification, making this the school district’s first LEED certified school. This 108,000 SF school serves 747 students and was designed to allow for classroom “houses” including teacher workrooms for each grade-level house. An exterior courtyard provides natural light as well as an outdoor play area. Some LEED initiatives include stack classrooms to minimize the building footprint, natural lighting incorporated throughout the facility, and energy efficiency in the mechanical systems.
