The 2012 AIA South Carolina Board of Directors has awarded Charles J. Hultstrand, AIA, Director of Design with LS3P ASSOCIATES LTD., the Medal of Distinction. This is the highest honor that the South Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects can bestow upon an AIA/SC member. He was formally presented with this award at the annual Design Awards Celebration held at Clemson University.
Chuck Hultstrand joined LS3P in 2003, having previously served as Director of Design with Boudreaux Hultstrand & Carter in Columbia, South Carolina. Chuck’s undergraduate studies at Princeton University and his graduate studies at Rice University are the basis for his design philosophy which emphasizes commitment to the clients’ vision and the community context. With a strong focus on institutional and faith based projects, Chuck has designed an array of campus master plans, university buildings, healthcare facilities and places of worship. He has provided design leadership for Clemson University’s Sandhill Research and Education Center, the CU-ICAR Center for Emerging Technology, First Baptist Greenville’s Youth Center, the Columbia International University Library, and the Kingswood University Chapel in New Brunswick, Canada.
