LS3P + ACE Program Mentoring Myer’s Park High School

Nathan Daniel, David Bellamy and Wil Drennan of LS3P’s Charlotte office, have participated in the ACE mentorship program for the last two years. The ACE (Architectural/Construction/Engineering) program’s mission is to enlighten high school students about careers in the integrated construction industry through mentoring. ACE is a partnership among industry professionals — architects, interior designers, landscape architects, mechanical, structural, electrical, environmental and civil engineers, construction managers, college and university representatives, and other professionals from related corporations and professional organizations — who work together to attract young people to their professions. We volunteer as mentors to high school students in order to introduce them to these professions and encourage them to pursue studies and careers in these fields. As part of the student activities and community outreach, one event we take pride in is a ‘Canstruction’ event; the students work to design structures built out of canned foods, with the food going to benefit local charities. I’m attaching some photos for your use. This particular Canstruction event was a competition between three competing high schools in the ACE Charlotte Chapter on 11/14/2009.
