WILMINGTON OFFICE LEADER / BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEMBER
Mr. Boney joined LS3P in 1994 after receiving his undergraduate degree in Architecture from the College of Design at North Carolina State University. He received a Master of Architecture degree with honors from the University of Virginia in 1997.
Chris is active in both the local and professional community. He is Chairman of the Wilmington Planning Commission and is also serving on the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Cape Fear Future Executive Team and the UNCW Board of Visitors. He has completed terms as President of the Wilmington Section of AIA North Carolina, the Board of Directors for AIA North Carolina, and National Advisor to the AIA Young Architects Forum. He has also served as a Trustee for the Wilmington Children’s Museum, Thalian Hall and Lower Cape Fear Hospice Endowment Board.
Chris has focused his efforts as a leader of downtown revitalization in Wilmington. He has assisted in the re-writing of the Central Business District zoning ordinance, and has overseen Historic District growth as an appointee to the Historic Preservation Commission. Currently, he is leading the Chamber of Commerce’s “Cape Fear Future – Quality of Life” effort, focused on restoring downtown as a business-friendly destination.
Mr. Boney’s work has been recognized in recent years with both AIA NC Design Awards and Lower Cape Fear Stewardship Awards, for exceptional design and commitment to sustainable building practices. The same level of care is being produced in his current work for a number of clients.
