The Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR) office tower/parking garage was designed for the first-phase development of a 250-acre research campus, serving as the parking hub and administrative headquarters for five adjacent research buildings. The four-story tower provides 23,000 SF of flexible space for the campus management offices and fitness center. The ground floor features a gallery for community events and the display of research projects. The parking garage contains 1,200 spaces in a pre-cast structure. A coffee shop on the ground level of the garage serves as an interactive community meeting spot overlooking the landscaped terrace that forms the ‘town square’ of the campus. The CU-ICAR AutoPark received LEED Gold certification.
