It has been said that teachers frequently learn more than their students, in part due to all of the preparation required to be in the front of the room leading the discussion to enhance the educational experience. LS3P ASSOCIATES LTD. had a similar experience that evolved and sharpened the strategic focus of the firm. The Chief Executive Officer and Chief Marketing Officer served as National President and National Convention Chair of the AIA in 2003. Two years of preparation—thinking about how the profession should continue to evolve—led to a national discussion focusing on the “proof” of architecture…in other words, architects could become more valued as trusted advisors to clients if they truly understood their clients’ strategies and could demonstrate the benefit of good design through tangible and measurable proof, via metrics of critical importance to that client.
They brought this national discussion home and honed LS3P’s founding mission into a precisely defined focus of the firm’s strategic energies on the “proof” of architecture. LS3P adopted “Enhancing Client Strategies®” as a vision statement to articulate their crystallized strategy, which clearly dispels the notion that architects are only interested in design as an end to itself.
LS3P’s focus and commitment intensified on this client strategy-driven concentration - understanding their clients’ markets, needs, and potential to succeed.
